What is Bifidus Regularis™?
Bifidus Regularis™ is the marketing name of the natural probiotic culture in Activia® and Activia Light that has been clinically proven to survive passage through the digestive system, arriving into the large intestine as a live culture. Activia® and Activia Light with Bifidus Regularis™ are proven to help with slow intestinal transit. The scientific name of the Bifidus Regularis is Bifidobacterium animalis DN-173 010.
Why is Bifidus Regularis™ described as an active culture or active bacteria?
We say that Bifidus Regularis™ is active because it is a living beneficial bacterium that, once ingested, survives the passage through the digestive system and remains alive in sufficient quantities once it reaches the large intestine, where it has its beneficial effect.

What role do Activia® and Activia Light play in the body?
Researchers for Activia® and Activia Light specifically selected the bifidobacterium called Bifidus Regularis™ for its beneficial properties that help naturally regulate the digestive system. Activia® and Activia Light with Bifidus Regularis™ have been shown to play a role in helping with slow intestinal transit. Slow intestinal transit, principally due to bad dietary habits and stress, can be a source of discomfort (bloating, heaviness, and aches).

In addition, Activia® and Activia Light from Dannon are good sources of protein, calcium, Riboflavin, Vitamin B12 and Phosphorus. Activia Light is also a good source of fiber.

How do Activia® and Activia Light help with slow intestinal transit?
Activia® and Activia Light both contain a unique culture called Bifidus Regularis? that has been clinically proven to survive passage through the digestive system. Activia® and Activia Light with Bifidus Regularis™ have been clinically proven to help regulate your digestive system when eaten daily for two weeks, by helping with slow intestinal transit.

How much Activia® and Activia Light do I need to eat to get the clinically proven benefit? How long until I feel a difference from Activia® and Activia Light?
Studies on the intestinal transit time have shown the "effectiveness of Activia®" and Activia Light when it is consumed on a daily basis for two weeks. These same studies have also demonstrated that the amount consumed by the study participant influenced the results, with greater effectiveness when up to three portions a day were consumed. In addition, Bifidus Regularis™ and other Bifidobacteria do not stay in the colon and are eliminated in the stools along with other bacteria. The positive effect of eating Activia® or Activia Light is associated with regular consumption, and ceases 2-3 weeks after discontinuation of consumption. We therefore recommend consuming at least one 4-ounce container of Activia® or Activia Light each day. Studies show that these beneficial effects will start appearing after two weeks of eating Activia® or Activia Light.

What is intestinal flora?
The intestinal flora includes all of the various bacteria which inhabit the human digestive tract, more precisely the colon. This flora plays a primary role in the metabolism of undigested nutrients in the small intestine. It also helps protect against pathogen infections throughout the digestive tract. Among the 400 to 500 species of bacteria present in the human body, the majority have a beneficial role, such as bifidobacteria, while others are potential pathogens (like clostridium), notably in cases of intestinal flora imbalance. This imbalance can result from stress, bad dietary habits, etc.
